The Los Angeles Astronomical Society held their monthly Public Star Party on the lawn of the Griffith Observatory on Saturday, April 16, 2016. From 2 PM to sunset, our members provided solar scopes for the public and demonstrated safety techniques for safe solar observing.  After the sun set, our members focused their telescopes and biinoculars on other objects in the night sky. Due to windy conditions, observing the night sky was not at an optimum level but the star party was a success with the large crowd of over 1,500 visitors to the observatory. The star party ended at 9:45 PM when the observatory closed for the night.
