Astropoetry Moments for Astronomy History (8): Praise to Omar Khayyam

Feb 12
By Andrei Dorian Gheorghe

Nobody could be a genius in all,
but Omar Khayyam (1048-1131)
was an exceptional Persian mathematician,
philosopher, poet and astronomer,
who belonged to the Arabian culture
and left wonderful quatrains
and a significant contribution to the Jalali Calendar.

Perhaps we are evolved dust of stars
and the connection between
“the queen of sciences” and “the queen of arts”
is very strong in us,
but only he who really dare to feel it
could become a genius in complex humanism,
in both astronomy and poetry…
in astral sentimentalism.
