100 Hours of Astronomy

100hours 100 Hours of Astronomy (100HA) is a Cornerstone Project of the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009). This unprecedented worldwide outreach event took place from 2-5 April and Astronomers Without Borders (AWB) had a lead role. A wide range of public outreach activities took place including a 24-hour webcast from inside 80 research observatories around the world and a 24-hour global star party. Altogether it was the largest public outreach effort ever conducted, reaching millions of people in more than 100 countries. Many AWB Affiliates took part, and follow-up reports, photos and videos are available on this web site especially at the project web site. More programs are planned by AWB throughout IYA2009 to build on this historic event.
