Global Astronomy Month 2010: One People, One Sky
Planning is well underway for Global Astronomy Month 2010. A wide variety of programs are planned, with more to be added even throughout the month itself. Here is some of the latest news:
Sign up for the GAM Newsletter. This first edition of GAM news updates is meant especially for AWB members and Affiliates. We want you to be the first to know the latest news about one of the greatest AWB projects this year. Starting next week, the AWB newsletter will carry only a brief summary of the latest on GAM, as a dedicated GAM newsletter will begin going out. Be sure to subscribe to the GAM newsletter to stay get all the news on new plans and other events taking place around the world. AWB members and Affiliates can easily add the GAM newsletter after logging in.
Follow GAM on Facebook and Twitter. Be part of the online community of astronomy enthusiasts share their best ideas.
Global Programs are now being posted on the GAM web site, including Lunar Week, the Living Legend Series of live interactive interviews, and remote observing sessions watching an exoplanet eclipse and finding new asteroids. Some 100 Hours of Astronomy programs will continue, including the 24-Hour Global Star Party and SunDay.
Event registration is now open. Let others know what you have planned by registering your event so it appears in searches, lists and on Google Maps.
Program ideas. If you haven't decided what to do for GAM yet, we have some great ideas for you. The list will continue to grow right through GAM as more successful programs are held and shared by organisers. If you have your own great idea, share it with the rest of us! Write to us.
GAM logos and banners are now available. Show others you're part of GAM with the logo on your web site.
The GAM Blog is online! Both the Project Blog with some great bloggers and the Members Blog will have new thoughts on GAM, AWB, One People, One Sky and the future of amateur astronomy.
Get involved! You can be part of the GAM team and work behind the scenes of this global public outreach project. There's a variety of opportunities, from website management to newsletter editing.
We are now looking for a Public Relations volunteer assistant to work with our PR Coordinator, Oana Sandu. If you have very good writing skills and are online daily then join the team. Familiarity with PR activities would be good but is not necessary. If you're interested, send us an email.
