Is anyone using Skype to connect with other parts of the world?

I have been thinking about this for a while and would love to have  the oppertunity to be there when other countries are holding an Astronomy event. I would also be happy to have my events stream live to other countries. I guess all we have to do is announce it in the Discussion Forums, but under what category or where on the AWB website?

Lets all get to know eachother a little better, and the best way is to have a Live chat so we can see how other parts of the world are spreading our passion of the night sky.

At every  AWB event I hold, I tell my partisapants that it is a world wide event, and I think it would make it a little more impact if they could see another country streaming there live event at the same time as yours.

HI Michael, Just joined up here and I agree with you it would be nice to use Skype to contact others from around the world. Me too agree with you guys..though I am new and don't know much about astronomy...but my interest is none the less...And I do think that sharing knowledges with each other with skype could do a lot.

Hi Mike and All,

I use Skype regularly to communicate with AWB friends in Brazil, Germany, and Nepal.  One of my Brazilian friends is even teaching me Portuguese using Skype.  Two of the astronomy clubs I belong to have hooked up with Marcelo Souza's club in Brazil.  Marcelo and his members showed us their observatory through Skype.  We also had a meeting between an astronomy person in Pennsylvanie and our club, so it is also good for doing sharing within country.

I will be in Nepal for GAM and I have already planned with my clubs to connect with the Nepal Astronomical Society while I am over there.  That should be a lot of fun and I know our clubs in Maine are looking forward to it.

I would be happy to connect with international clubs too as an individual, but for something to be arranged with one of the clubs, it would have to be organized ahead of time.  My Skype name is starladyjoan1  l
