Naked eye observing Dec 3 2011, 5:27am Looking East. I observed 4 magnitude 1.5 flashes in the same spot, 10 seconds between flashes. Checked Satellite Flybys on Spaceweather.com.
Satellite Rise Time Direction Transit Time Max Elevation Magnitude X-37B 05:25:08 am E 05:27:24 38° 3.2 (dim)
Conclusion; Satellite flare (also known as satellite glint) is the phenomenon caused by the reflective surfaces on satellites (such as antennas or solar panels) reflecting sunlight directly onto the Earth below and appearing as a brief, bright "flare".
Over the 30 + years of being an avid photographer I have on rare occasions photographed images that I have not been able to explian. Lights in the horizon, objects over large bodies of water and a large object in the desert.
